More than 12,000 people applied to be an astronaut between March 2 and March 31, 2020. The astronaut selection committee is now in the process of reviewing those applications. NASA expects to announce its selections in mid-2021.
How do you become an astronaut for Mars?

You will not receive a rejection letter (you might see the position is “filled” or “closed” on the intern portal where you applied intern.nasa.gov) You will receive an email if you are offered an internship (and you will have that acceptance letter on intern.NASA.gov too)
