What is BF balance on my Les?
“BF Bal” (brought forward leave balance) shows the days leave carried forward from the previous fiscal year ending on 30 Sep. “Ernd” is the cumulative amount of leave earned this fiscal year or current term of enlistment if service member reenlisted/ extended since the beginning of the fiscal year.
How do I get a leave and earnings statement?

How do I read my Les?
Fields 1-9 focus on identification.
- NAME: This is the service member’s name listed Last, First, Middle Initial.
- SOC.
- GRADE: The service member’s current paygrade.
- PAY DATE: This is the Pay Entry Base Date (PEBD).
- YRS SVC: In two digits, the actual years of creditable service.
How much leave do I have?
As an Australian employer, you owe an employee who has completed at least ten years of service two months’ (8.67 weeks) paid long service leave. For every five years after the initial ten years of service, NSW employees are also entitled to one month of long service leave.
What is Bas on Les?
BAS is meant to offset costs for a member’s meals. This allowance is based in the historic origins of the military in which the military provided room and board (or rations) as part of a member’s pay. This allowance is not intended to offset the costs of meals for family members.
